AFTRS is Australia’s most prestigious institution focussed on all aspects of film, TV and radio. It provides training to industry professionals, people wanting to get into the industry, school leavers and school age children.
One of the primary goals in developing an onCourse web site design for AFTRS was to create a look with plenty of imagery to reflect the visual nature of the organisation. The design agency Yello came up with the look of the site and supplied that to ish as a set of Photoshop layered documents. We then pulled it apart and applied it to the onCourse framework.
Work is underway now on a refresh of the site which will focus on identifying the demographics specific to AFTRS target audience and ensure that their needs are met in each of these important ways:
- a design which meets their expectations and aspirations
- the ability to search through the site to find their needs
- a way of browsing through content in different ways to allow people to explore the courses which are available. It is important that people are able to find what they need and also stumble on things which they didn’t know they wanted until they found it
We expect the design upgrade to be complete in the first half of 2013.
